Defender sidelined for three months with ankle injury

West Brom have confirmed Steven Reid will miss the rest of the season after injuring ankle ligaments in last week's 1-0 win against Chelsea. The 30-year-old has been a regular in the Baggies' defence this season making 22 league appearances and netting once. After seeing a specialist in Holland on Thursday, it was confirmed that Reid had injured the ligaments in his right ankle. The former Republic of Ireland international is expected to be sidelined for three months and is aiming to be fit for the start of next season. His manager Roy Hodgson has admitted it was a blow to lose Reid for the season. "Unfortunately we lost Steven during the Chelsea game and it looks very much as if he is going to be out for the rest of the season," Hodgson said. "He is going to require surgery and you are probably talking about him being ruled out for around 12 weeks. "It is a big blow because Steve is one of those consistent and dependable sort of players. "Unfortunately for us, he had only just come back from another ankle injury and had done well in the few games he was fit. "We missed him in the spells when he was unable to play and this is disappointing news."
