Swansea City winger Scott Sinclair has admitted it is getting harder for him to score penalties, but insists he is ready to take the next one.
The England Under 21 international missed his first penalty for the Swans in Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City, with Joe Hart ruining Sinclair's 100% record from the spot.
He is keen to put the miss behind him and has assured fans he will be ready to step up the next time his side win a penalty.
Sinclair told the
South Wales Evening Post: "I won't be shirking my responsibility. If we get another penalty then I'll be ready to take one. There's always pressure on taking a penalty because you are expected to score.
Mental strength
"I'm not one to shy away from it - I've no problem taking the next one. I've got the mental strength to remain positive.
"The gaffer told me at half-time (last weekend) how important my penalties have been. I've scored 13 from 14, so it's not that bad a record."
The 22-year-old has dismissed suggestions that Hart succeeded in putting him off but admits it is becoming more difficult to score from the spot.
"He was saying 'don't wait for me' before I took the penalty," added Sinclair. "That didn't put me off at all, but he did well to save it.
"There's no doubt it's getting harder for me to score penalties because goalkeepers are doing their homework and studying videos. But that's the challenge for me - to keep them guessing."
