Midfielder targets Cup success

Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing is relishing the prospect of an all-Merseyside FA Cup semi-final after the Reds booked their place in the last four. Kenny Dalglish's men secured a second trip to Wembley this season with a 2-1 win over Stoke in Sunday's quarter-final and they have been paired with either Everton or Sunderland in the semi-finals. Spearing is excited at a possible Merseyside derby semi-final at Wembley, but he insists they remain focused on the upcoming run of Premier League games, starting with Wednesday's trip to Queens Park Rangers. "For the club and for Merseyside it (a Liverpool - Everton semi-final) would be special," Spearing told the club's official website. "For both clubs it would be massive to get the supporters down there for the semi-final.

Dream

"It's every player's dream to go and play at Wembley and it will be extra special if it's an all-Merseyside semi-final. We've got all the confidence to go there and try and get through to the final. "We've got a big game on Wednesday which we'll need to compete in and get three points, but when it (the semi-final) comes about we'll be looking forward to it." Spearing admits reaching another cup semi-final provides a boost for everyone at the club and he is confident they can go all the way to the final. "For myself, it's a massive confidence boost and for the team too," added Spearing. "We've been there once and won, so there's no reason we can't go there with plenty of confidence and hopefully get to the final."
