MRI assessment identifies no major damage to goalkeeper's hamstring

Tim Krul has handed Newcastle a fitness boost after confirming he has not suffered a serious injury. The Dutchman has become one of Alan Pardew's most important players, but he picked up a suspected hamstring problem at the end of Sunday's win over Norwich. It was feared Krul would at least miss this weekend's trip to West Brom, but scans identified there was no major damage to his muscle tissue. The 23-year-old will now be able take his place in Pardew's first-team at The Hawthorns, where Newcastle will aim to reinforce their hold on sixth place in the Premier League. Krul said on Twitter: "Just had result back of the MRI scan.. All clear.. Already looking forward."
