Wolves' battle against relegation has suffered yet another hammer blow with confirmation that Wayne Hennessey will be out for six months.
The Wales goalkeeper was sent to see a knee specialist after suffering an injury in the closing stages of the 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Saturday.
And Wolves' Head of Medical Services Steve Kemp revealed that the Molinuex No.1 will go under the knife on Wednesday.
"Our worst fears have been realised," said Kemp. "Wayne has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will have surgery this afternoon.
"He will be out for around six months."
Dorus de Vries, who has played five times in cup competitions this season, is in line to make his league debut against Manchester City on Sunday.
Wolves have also recalled Carl Ikeme from his loan spell at Doncaster to cover the loss of Hennessey.
