Saunders confirms Diouf exit

Doncaster boss Dean Saunders has admitted El-Hadji Diouf has almost certainly played his last game for the club.

Rovers could also lose Coppinger

Doncaster boss Dean Saunders has admitted El-Hadji Diouf has almost certainly played his last game for the club. Diouf penned an 18-month deal at the Keepmoat Stadium in January, but clauses in his deal mean the 31-year-old Senegal international is no longer bound to Rovers following their relegation from the Championship. Saunders stated Diouf - strongly linked with a move to Yorkshire neighbours Leeds last week - was "difficult" to manage but praised his contribution to the club and his forward partnership with Billy Sharp before the latter completed a mid-season move to Southampton. "He scored six goals, got 12 assists and I think probably six of those were on Billy's head in the six-yard box," said Saunders. "Obviously Billy's got a knack of finding space in the box "He's a class player, not easy to manage off the pitch, but I only had him for five months and the clauses in his contract are for the Championship, so I think he'll probably be going to another club, whether it's Leeds or somewhere else."

Coppinger chase

Saunders also revealed James Coppinger could head a summer exodus from the Keepmoat Stadium. Coppinger is one of Rovers' longest-serving players having made 336 appearances in all competitions since joining from Exeter in 2004. The 31-year-old is understood to be a transfer target for Ipswich and Saunders believes he is not his only player with potential suitors. "He's got two years left (on his contract)," added Saunders. "I would imagine some clubs will come in for him. I'd imagine some clubs will come in for George (Friend), Tommy Spurr - lots of them. "And some of the ones out of contract that I'd like to keep, we've let their contracts run out so if they go it's our fault. They're going to have other options. "I'll have to just keep juggling. There's some that I really don't want to go, but if a Championship club comes in and offers them more money I can't really stop them."
