Dutch schemer struggling with knee problem

Wesley Sneijder has handed Holland an injury scare after revealing he is struggling with a knee problem. The Inter Milan ace admits he struggled with the knee injury during Holland's shock 1-0 defeat to Denmark in their opening game of Euro 2012 on Saturday. Sneijer refused to reveal if the injury would rule him out of next week's crucial clash with old foes Germany. "I have some trouble at the back of my knee," Sneijder told De Telegraaf. Sneijder admitted they lacked the killer touch in their defeat to the Danes after spurning several clear openings to score. "We were missing the final bit of decisiveness," added Sneijder. "The strikers are keen to score and I play in behind them and give them the ball, but they must score. We played well and we were great at the beginning of the game. "In the last half-hour we had two or three good chances. But in the last 10 minutes we were running on empty. However we kept fighting until the very last minute."

Final

Sneijder's team-mate Rafael van der Vaart, who came off the bench against Denmark, admits the showdown with Germany on Wednesday will be will 'like a final' as defeat could mean an early exit from the finals for the Dutch. "The Germany game on Wednesday is now like a final for us," noted van der Vaart. "We have two finals but if we lose the first one, we are out of the competition. "It's a massive game. That's all I can say. It's painful because we thought we had to win against Denmark and it was a very hard defeat to take."
