Schalke striker aiming for a recall in Holland's crunch group game

Holland defender Joris Mathijsen is poised for a recall for their must-win game against Germany after his return to training following injury. The centre-back missed their opening Group B defeat to Denmark because he was troubled with a hamstring injury, but is now under serious consideration to start the next game. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is also pressing his claims for spot in the starting XI after being named on the bench against the Danes. He came on as a second half substitute for the Dutch in their first game and boasts an impressive recent scoring record for the national team. The Schalke striker hopes he will be given the nod to lead the line, which would see Robin van Persie switching out to the left at the expense of Ibrahim Afellay.
