Rotherham United new boy Michael O'Connor insists that earning a recall to the international stage is far from his thoughts as he prepares for the new campaign.
The Northern Ireland international has not featured for his country since November 2010 when he won his 10th cap in a 1-1 draw with Morocco.
The 24-year-old signed a two-year-contract with Rotherham this summer after leaving Scunthorpe and says that helping his new club fulfil their ambitious plans is his sole focus.
"I'm just concentrating on my football for Rotherham at the minute and I'm not sure whether the international manager would be keen to call up many players in League Two anyway," O'Connor told Sky Sports.
"Hopefully, if all goes well and we can get into League One and then the Championship over the next few years then I might have a better chance of playing for my country, but at the moment all my focus is on playing club football.
"I've got ten caps so far, which isn't too bad for a 24-year-old and I've still got a good seven or eight years of playing football left and hopefully I can earn a few more during that time."
