Anders Lindegaard has declared that there is no place in the world he would rather be than Manchester United, but he does not want to be left on the substitutes' bench forever and is hoping to challenge David de Gea for the goalkeeper's jersey.
The Denmark international linked up with the Red Devils 18 months ago and was granted a number of opportunities to play last season as he vied with fellow newcomer De Gea for the right to be first choice.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson always made it clear that he viewed De Gea as the long-term replacement for Edwin van der Sar, and the young Spaniard improved considerably as his first year in the Premier League progressed.
Lindegaard, meanwhile, was frustrated by injuries towards the end of the campaign and recognises that he has a lot of work ahead of him in pre-season.
He will have the chance to shine whilst De Gea is away on Olympic duty, and maintains that he never forgets what an honour it is to represent United.

"There is no place in the world I'd rather be than Manchester United," the 28-year-old told
BT.
"But I don't want to be on the bench for the rest of my life. When you've experienced how it is to start for United, you would do anything in the world to experience that again."
Looking ahead to the pre-season trips to South Africa and China, Lindegaard added: "When you play for a club like Manchester United every game throughout the season is important.
"These first ones are even more important as they give me the opportunity to show that I'm back to the level I was before my injury."
