Villa rocked by double injury

Aston Villa pair Gabriel Agbonlahor and Richard Dunne will miss the start of the season due to injury.

Agbonlahor out for four to five weeks; Dunne sidelined for up to two months

Paul Lambert's hopes of making a strong start as Aston Villa manager in the Premier League have been rocked by the news he will be without Gabriel Agbonlahor and Richard Dunne for the start of the season. Striker Agbonlahor will be out of action for four to five weeks with a medial ligament injury suffered during the pre-season tour of America. Dunne will be sidelined for six to eight weeks with a groin setback which he sustained while at the European Championship with the Republic of Ireland and a seemingly angry Villa claim the injury was not correctly treated at the finals. A statement on Villa's official website read: "Gabby Agbonlahor will be sidelined for a further four-five weeks with the injury to his left knee, sustained against Chicago Fire. "This is after the scan confirmed medial ligament damage. "Meanwhile, Richard Dunne will also be out of action for six-eight weeks, having undergone a procedure on a groin injury which he sustained and was not dealt with during the European Championship."
