Simon Cox has revealed the ambition of Nottingham Forest's new owners was the key factor in signing for the club.

Owners convinced me they are here for the long haul, says signing

Simon Cox has revealed the ambition of Nottingham Forest's new owners was the key factor in signing for the club. Cox completed his move from West Brom on Tuesday, signing a three-year contract, with Forest paying the Baggies an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland striker admits he sought assurances from chairman Omar Al Hasawi that the owners are committed to investing in the club and was pleased by what he heard. Cox told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed a deal with Forest and I'm really looking forward to the task ahead. "The history of the club sells itself and I had a chat with Sean O'Driscoll and liked what he had to say. "I also met the chairman the other day and had a good look around the facilities and can tell it's a club going forward.

Assurances

"One of the most important things for me were the assurances I was given by the owners. "I've seen enough in football where owners come into the clubs, have a little flutter and then go away. "I wanted to make sure that they are going to be here for the long haul and they assured me that they are. "They have big plans for the club and I want to be a part of that." Al Hasawi added: "Sean O'Driscoll highlighted that he wanted to bring in a man with a proven goal-scoring record and Simon has that pedigree. "I am sure he will prove to be an excellent addition to our squad as we look to take the club forward."
