Defender emerges as a target for leaky Premier League defences

Sky Sports understands QPR and Norwich are lining up a move for Birmingham defender Curtis Davies before the transfer window closes. Both clubs were on the receiving end of 5-0 thrashings at the weekend with QPR stunned at home to Swansea and the Canaries mauled at Fulham. That has prompted Loftus Road boss Mark Hughes and his Norwich counterpart Chris Hughton to step up plans to give Davies a route back to the Premier League. Hughton knows the 27-year-old centre-back well from his time in charge at St Andrew's and is hoping to convince Blues to sell. But QPR's added financial muscle could win the day with Birmingham unlikely to be able to resist a big-money offer for Davies. Southampton are also keeping tabs on Davies' situation with Nigel Adkins keen to bolster his defensive options. Davies is under contract with Blues until 2014 after joining from city rivals Aston Villa in January 2011.
