Brazilian star Kaka is the highest-paid player in the MLS

Brazilian midfielder Kaka is the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer this season, taking home £4.59m from Orlando City.

The figures from the MLS Players Union show the former AC Milan and Real Madrid star edged Toronto's Sebastien Giovinco, the former Juventus striker, who is earning £4.56m.

High-profile new arrivals like English duo Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard saw their compensation made public as well, the duo among 21 MLS players who will earn more than £600,000 this year.

Gerrard has recently joined the Los Angeles Galaxy while fellow midfielder Lampard is hoping to make his debut for New York City next week.

Liverpool great Gerrard will get £4.05m from the Los Angeles Galaxy while Lampard will receive £3.85m from New York City FC.

Italian World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo will be paid over £1m by New York City, which also shells out £3.6m to Spaniard David Villa.

And former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Robbie Keane will receive £2.9m from the LA Galaxy.
