Christian Eriksen has described talks over a new long-term Tottenham contract as "positive" and he hopes to commit his future to the club.

The Denmark midfielder, who has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal, believes he can fulfil his ambitions at Spurs.

Eriksen scored a dramatic late winner to beat Manchester City 2-1 on Super Sunday and lift Tottenham to within two points of Premier League leaders Leicester.

And he said: "We're still talking about the contract. It's all positive. I think everyone can see that I can fulfil my ambitions here.

"We're still not there, we're still far from winning the league. There are a lot of games to go.

"We need to be really sharp and continue what we're doing. We have a lot of good players, even on the bench. The players we brought on are top, top quality and the ones who are not playing are still doing a really good job.
