Anders Lindegaard has signed a one-year contract with Championship club Preston, for whom he made 14 appearances last season.

The Denmark international goalkeeper had been on the books of West Brom for the past year, having moved to the Hawthorns from Manchester United.

However, the 32-year-old made just one start for the Baggies, who have agreed to cancel his contract allowing Lindegaard to move to Deepdale.

Lindegaard, who spent four-and-a-half years at Manchester United, much of that time as David de Gea's understudy, told Preston's official website: "It was a very easy decision. I could have gone to several other clubs in England but it was a no brainer. I wanted to stay here.

"I'm really happy that things have fallen into place before we get closer to the season.

"It's nice to come back and be a part of the whole pre-season and see all the lads again. It's a great locker room."

Preston manager Simon Grayson added: "I think it's a real good signing for us, we've worked hard behind the scenes to try and make this happen and I'm grateful to West Brom for helping us do that.

"It's great that Anders made it clear from the start that he wanted to come here and we have been able to secure him on a permanent basis.

"We are delighted with it and it's another step along the way with the recruitment process that we've been doing over the summer."
