Sky sources understand Leicester City will appeal against the red card shown to England striker Jamie Vardy during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Stoke

Leicester City will appeal against the red card shown to Jamie Vardy in Saturday's game against Stoke, Sky sources understand.

Vardy was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson for a two-footed challenge on Mame Diouf during the 2-2 draw at the bet365 Stadium.

Vardy and Leicester feel he had been knocked off balance immediately before the challenge, and that there was no malice.

Did Jamie Vardy deserve to be sent off?

The FA are already expected to give Leicester an automatic fine, after Pawson booked five Leicester players in the final seven minutes of the first half.

Leicester had six players shown the yellow card in total - a number which triggers an automatic FA fine.

Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs, two of the players booked, will miss the club's Boxing Day clash at home to Everton.
