Sam Allardyce has the attributes to be successful at Crystal Palace, should the Eagles appoint him, according to Keith Millen.
The former England manager is reportedly the favourite to succeed Alan Pardew, who was sacked by the Selhurst Park club on Thursday.
Millen, who has been Palace's caretaker boss on three separate occasions, may be in temporary charge when they meet Watford on Boxing Day.
The 50-year-old took training on Friday and, regarding the possible appointment of Allardyce, told a press conference: "If it is Sam, we're getting an experienced manager coming in.
"He did a great job at Sunderland keeping them up. He'd certainly be able to sort the players out."
As for Monday's Sky Live trip to Vicarage Road, he added: "I've been told to prepare the team."
But Millen is not certain if Allardyce will soon be taking over at Palace, saying: "I've not been party to that.
"It's obviously not confirmed, because I wouldn't be here if it was."
Allardyce, whose England reign lasted one match, has managed Blackpool, Notts County, Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham and Sunderland during a much-travelled career.
He has never been relegated from the Premier League.
