Christian Fuchs says criticism of Leicester players fired them up for Liverpool clash

Christian Fuchs said anger within the Leicester squad for "untruths" written about them inspired the 3-1 win over Liverpool.

Leicester bounced back to something like their Premier League title-winning form against Jurgen Klopp's side, putting up a passionate display in their first game since Claudio Ranieri was sacked.

Jamie Vardy scored twice and said afterwards that criticism of the squad in the wake of Ranieri's departure was unfair.

Austria defender Fuchs echoed his sentiments, saying a lot that was written about the Italian's hasty exit had simply acted as a motivational tool.

He told the club's official site: "There were lot of things written in the media but it fired us up and we wanted to show what we were made of with a lot of untruths written.

"You saw the Leicester from last season."

Victory lifted Leicester back out of the bottom three but Fuchs says the squad, now under the interim control of Craig Shakespeare, will have to continue to match their levels from Monday night.

They are back in action on Saturday, again at the King Power Stadium, when fellow strugglers Hull City are the visitors.

"Every game for us is now a final, we want to stay in the league and we can build on that game," Fuchs added.

"We were fired up from minute one. This season we were trailing a lot but were were going up 1-0, 2-0 and even 3-0. It's good for our game, it didn't happen too often until now.

"Everybody was fighting for the win that we urgently. They felt what intensity we were putting on the pitch, it was a great atmosphere in the stadium.

"It's not easy for any team to come here and take three points away. Every match for us is a final. We can build up on this game and we're looking forward to the next one."
