Portuguese international striker spurns West Brom switch

Benfica striker Ariza Makukula insists he has no interest in securing a loan move to West Brom. The two clubs are believed to have reached an agreement for the 27-year-old, only for personal terms to become a stumbling block. Congo-born Makukula admits he spoke to the Baggies in regards to a possible deal, but insists a move to England was not a feasible option. "There was an agreement between West Brom and Benfica but I went to the club and I didn't like their offer," he told Maisfutebol. "I respect the club but I didn't want to be part of their project. "I wanted to have a look at my contract. The coach was friendly, the club is well-organized, but I don't think it's a good fit for me." Makukula still intends to secure a move away from Benfica during the January transfer window, having failed to secure a regular starting role under Quique Sanchez Flores this term, and will now investigate other offers.
