Rovers boss accuses Magpies striker of elbowing Samba

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has hit out at Andy Carroll for his weekend challenge on Chris Samba. The Newcastle striker caught the Rovers centre-half with a flailing arm during Saturday's contest at Ewood Park. The Congo international had to be replaced before the interval as his eye began to swell up. Allardyce has now questioned whether the incident was intentional, while also confirming that his other defensive stalwart Ryan Nelsen has required stitches on a head injury of his own. "I thought it was a bit nasty the elbow," he told the club's official website. "It was an elbow from young Andy Carroll which was, I think, a bit naughty. "Chris can't see through his right eye, it looks like he's gone 15 rounds with Ricky Hatton at the moment. "I just hope that the eye socket is intact because it looked a nasty injury that one." On Nelsen, Allardyce added: "Ryan Nelsen had about four stitches in his other eye this time, so he looks like he's done a few rounds as well."
