Hull City manager Phil Brown is hopeful Fulham striker Bobby Zamora will agree to sign at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers have had a £5million bid accepted by the Cottagers and Brown held talks with Zamora on Tuesday.
Zamora is now weighing up whether to join Hull, with Brown optimistic he could be set for East Yorkshire.
He told Sky Sports News: "I spoke with Bobby on Tuesday and we have left an offer in his hands.
"It is one of them where it is a waiting game. He has a lot of things to consider. You are hopeful you are successful with the offer to the player.
"I got the impression he was well impressed with what he had to see and well impressed with what I had to say."
Brown went on to hint at an interest in Cardiff City star Joe Ledley, but confirmed an official approach has not yet been made.
He said: "The rumour mill isn't a million miles off. People say there is no smoke without fire. But I haven't followed up any enquiries yet."
Brown also outlined his hope that key defender Michael Turner remains at the KC Stadium, despite interest from elsewhere.
He added: "I am very keen to hang onto him. There is no doubt about it, he was our best player last year.
"But there are some big clubs out there that can turn young players' heads quite easily.
"I will be fighting tooth and nail to keep him but everyone has their valuation.
"Hopefully nobody comes up to our valuation and we can hold onto him for a year or two."
