Wolves boss refuses to shirk from tough decisions
Mick McCarthy says Karl Henry will react positively to being replaced as Wolves captain by Roger Johnson.
Henry's three-year tenure as skipper coincided with promotion to the Premier League and retaining their status over the last two years.
During this period Henry has led the team from the front in his industrious and wholehearted fashion.
Johnson
Yet, McCarthy now feels Johnson is the man to lead the club into another era.
"It was exceptionally tough," the Wolves boss said of the decision.
"He's come through the Championship and we've stayed in the Premier League for two seasons while Karl has been captain and he has been excellent.
"It was difficult because Karl has done nothing wrong. He's reacted as I'd expect him to do.
Performances
"He got on with it, and keeps on doing what he does. He cannot let it affect his performances and he won't.
"I didn't like having to tell him either, because I have a great relationship with him.
"But that's what I get paid for - to make those decisions."
