Skipper targeting strong finish with Cottagers

Fulham captain Danny Murphy is hoping the Cottagers can match their best-ever Premier League finish by securing seventh place this season. Martin Jol's men sit 10th in the standings with five games left to play as they prepare to host relegation-threatened Wigan on Saturday. The Cottagers still have to face some of the teams around them in the run-in, including Everton and Liverpool away. But midfielder Murphy is backing them to edge out the Merseyside rivals and emulate the seventh-placed finish they clinched in 2009. "Last year we finished eighth so we will try and better that," the skipper told the Fulham Chronicle. "We know it's going to be difficult because we've got some tricky away games coming up, like Everton and Liverpool. "We'll keep going and have shown in recent weeks that we've got good strength in depth."
