Steven Fletcher hopes he can carry the momentum from a superb start at Sunderland into the rest of the season after picking up the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

Out of his five goals for Sunderland so far, Fletcher rates the first of a league debut double against Swansea as his best strike, when he pounced on a mistake by Ashley Williams before curling the ball into the bottom corner. He added: "(It's) probably the Swansea one to be honest. "I had a lot of time to think about it because I think the defender made a mistake trying to pass it back and I gambled on it and got on the end of it. "It took me a long time to get the ball under control and when I did I just put it in the corner."
