Manager Mark Hughes meets with QPR chief after not taking training session

Mark Hughes attended a two-hour meeting with QPR's chief executive on Monday and did not take charge of training.

Pressure continues to mount on Hughes after Saturday's defeat to fellow Premier League strugglers Southampton left Rangers rock-bottom of the table.

The Hoops are yet to win a game this season and have claimed just four points from their 12 matches so far.

Speculation is building over how long QPR owner Tony Fernandes will keep faith with Hughes despite him publicly backing the boss on several occasions.

Hughes met with Beard on Monday and was not present as the Rangers players took part in a full training session.

Beard made no comment as he left the club's West London training ground on Monday afternoon.

Fernandes, who is thought to have been in the United States on business, tweeted earlier that day: "On my way home from Amercia. Long long flight to think of many things. Just stopped of at Osaka. Now back home to Kuala Lumpur."

Disappointed

QPR winger Junior Hoilett, a summer import from Blackburn, moved to assure the fans that the players do care and they will put in the hard yards to try to turn things around.

He told the club's official website: "The first half just wasn't good enough. We came out second to everything and that's not acceptable.

"We got a rollicking from the manager at half-time. We came out strong in the second half but we left ourselves with too much to do to get ourselves back into the game.

"Everybody in the dressing room was hugely disappointed with the result. We're all really disappointed and frustrated with how things are going at the moment, but we will work hard to put it right.

"I can understand the fans' frustrations. We're as frustrated as they are because we want to change this around and climb the table. We've got to stick together as a team."
