Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew admits he expected Alex McCarthy to save Heung-Min Son's effort that handed Tottenham a 1-0 win on Sunday.
The Palace stopper let Son's left-footed effort from 15 yards through his legs with 22 minutes remaining, giving Spurs their second win of the season.
Palace now have nine points after six games and sit a place ahead of Spurs in eighth, but Pardew was disappointed by the manner of the goal just moments after Hugo Lloris had magnificently tipped Bakary Sako's effort onto the post.
He told Sky Sports: "The game hinged on those three minutes. [Lloris'] save was unbelievable, and then three minutes later the goal at the other end which we should stop, and our goalkeeper should stop it.
"He's unlucky because he hits it hard, but I think he would still want to save that and I'd want him to save it."
Despite hitting the post twice, Palace struggled to get a foothold in the game at White Hart Lane, and Pardew insists if his side are looking to finish mid-table the expectation should be higher.
"We came to Spurs, a difficult place, they play well and we still should have got something.
"If we're going to become a mid-table team, that isn't acceptable to me and it isn't acceptable to my players.
"The margins were not in our favour for the whole of the game. We should have done a lot better today."
