Double Dutch delight

Our Sky Sports Fantasy Football guru insists there is only one man to make captain this gameweek.

Our Sky Sports Fantasy Football guru previews this weekend's Premier League action and offers his top tips

The mark of a great Sky Sports Fantasy Fantasy football boss is often the ability to spot a bargain, but this week it is all about splashing the cash on the game's top name. With a double gameweek on the cards, it is no time to gamble with the captaincy - simply bite the bullet, raise some cash and hand the armband to Robin van Persie. The fixtures could hardly fall any more favourably for Manchester United, with managerless basement boys QPR visiting on Saturday before West Ham make the trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday night. The appeal of Van Persie barely needs explaining having slotted in seamlessly to United's forward line with eight goals from 10 starts following his 30-goal haul last season. In the duty of responsibility, it is worth raising and dismissing the two minor concerns. Firstly, the Dutchman is enduring a relative goal drought having failed to net in two whole games. However, it was March when he last failed to score in three successive games, if he extends the run to four then I'll eat a clog. The other is Sir Alex Ferguson's rotation policy with his wealth of attacking options. However, the Scot has actually started his leading marksman in the last nine Premier League games having been able to rest him for the last couple of Champions League matches, while he also sat out the recent round of international friendlies and all Capital One Cup action.

Other options

Other United players who tempt are Rafael (£6.6m) and Antonio Valencia (£7.9m). Full-back Rafael is the cheapest of their regular starters, having missed just the single game this season, while his partner on the right-flank, Valencia, has contributed four assists and a Sky Sports man-of-the-match award this term. Elsewhere, Tottenham will expect to get back to winning ways when they host West Ham on Saturday, with Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale holding the greatest appeal. In Emmanuel Adebayor's absence, Defoe is certain to lead the line alongside the underperforming Clint Dempsey and is odds-on to net anytime with Sky Bet, having scored in four of his last seven meetings with his former club. Bale brought his tally up to 57 points for the season with a goal in the North London derby last weekend but is £1m more expensive than team-mate Defoe. Young centre-back Steven Caulker seems to be improving with every game and has two goals to his name, but struggles to appeal despite his modest price tag of £5.5m due to Spurs' lack of clean sheets, keeping just one so far this season. Luis Suarez just about held on to his position as the game's highest points scorer with a brace last weekend and is worth backing to significantly add to his tally of 94 points when the Reds visit Swansea, who have conceded in all but one of their home games this season.

Value for money

Santi Cazorla kept pace with Suarez last week as he picked up the man-of-the-match award with a goal and an assist in Arsenal's 5-2 win over Spurs. The £6.8m valued playmaker offers the best value-for-money in the Premier League having picked up an average of 13.88 points per million so far this season. The second best player in terms of value, Marouane Fellaini, will be absent for Everton's clash with Norwich as he serves a one-match ban - whether it is worth transferring him out for such a short period should depend on remaining transfers available. For those looking for some defensive cover at solid value, Stoke's backline looks worth putting faith in. The Potters have kept five clean sheets this season, the joint most in the Premier League, and host Fulham and then Newcastle, who have both struggled with consistency this term. On the injury front, popular Magpies duo Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa are ruled out along with Arsenal's Theo Walcott and Manchester City's Gael Clichy, whose team-mate Vincent Kompany is a doubt.
