Marouane Fellaini says Manchester United's players trust Louis van Gaal and insists they can win the Premier League title.
The Old Trafford side will get back to domestic action on Saturday at Bournemouth after their damaging Champions League elimination in midweek following a 3-2 loss at Wolfsburg.
That result was the latest in a number of setbacks for van Gaal's side, who have now won just three of their last 11 matches.
They have drawn five of those games 0-0 and their defensive style has drawn criticism as they have struggled to make scoring chances.
For all that - and while they are behind Leicester, Arsenal and Manchester City - they still sit just three points off the top of the table.
While dropping into the Europa League was a blow, Fellaini is not despondent and maintains this season can be a successful one for him and his team-mates.
Asked if United can claim a first title in three seasons, he told NBC Sports: "Yes, of course. At the moment we are in the top four, we are there.
"It is a tough month but we have to continue like this. We know as Manchester United the expectation from us is high.
"Now we are focused, we know what we are doing. So, we will see but we are there. I am sure the goals will come and the chances as well.
"We trust him (van Gaal). He is the manager, it is his philosophy and we have to continue like that."
Fellaini has started the last two games for United and has made 15 appearances for them in all since the summer but his return to the side came after six games out of the first XI.
The Belgian has not always been a regular starter but is optimistic that can change over the course of time.
He added: "I didn't start the season because I was banned three games. After that I would just come in 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes - that's football.
"The manager decides but I am sure my time will come and I will show myself. I can help and I can play as well. Last season I scored goals and I did well. I'm sure my time will come and I will play."
