Giallorossi playmaker has not travelled to Old Trafford

Francesco Totti has been ruled out of Roma's trip to Old Trafford for Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg. Trailing 2-0 from the Stadio Olimpico clash and again shorn of their attacking talisman, Roma face an unenviable task in trying to book a place in the last four. Totti had hoped to travel to Manchester with the rest of the Roma squad but a thigh injury which kept him out of the first match prohibits his involvement. The capital club's top goalscorer picked up the injury against Cagliari on 29th March and will be a noticeable absentee for Wednesday's game. Roma have, though, been boosted by the news Alberto Aquilani has been added to their travelling party despite being injured of late. United have injury problems of their own, with the knock picked up by Rio Ferdinand at the weekend against Middlesbrough making him a real doubt for the game. Should the England man be deemed unavailable then Gerard Pique will be drafted in as his replacement - with the Spaniard having figured for United against Roma earlier in the season at the competition's group phase.
