Hull remain confident of landing Marlon King on loan in time for their weekend clash with Fulham.
The Tigers are desperate to bolster their attacking options ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener and see Wigan striker King as the ideal candidate.
They have been tracking the Jamaica international for some time and believe that a deal is close.
The former Watford hit-man would initially join on loan until January, and was at the KC Stadium on Wednesday to undergo a medical.
With only the formalities to be completed, Hull chairman Paul Duffen expects King to feature against the Cottagers.
"Medicals don't take 10 minutes these days and we have to wait 24 hours for the results," he told the
Hull Daily Mail.
"However, we expect the formalities to be completed in time for him to be available for selection for the Fulham match."
Campbell chase
Duffen also confirmed that the Tigers remain in the hunt for Manchester United's Fraizer Campbell.
The youngster enjoyed a successful loan spell with Phil Brown's men last term, and the club are keen to bring him back.
Should United be successful in their pursuit of Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov then the Tigers may be able to reach an agreement, although Duffen admits that even then nothing is guaranteed.
"The first thing I would stress is that it is not for us to be calling Man United about Fraizer," he said,
"Man United are in no doubts as to our intentions on Fraizer, and if Sir Alex Ferguson decides loaning him out again is the right thing to do I am sure it will be us that he talks to.
"If the Berbatov move goes through and it means that Fraizer is able to go out on loan again this season, that would be very good news for our chances."
