Spurs in for England striker

Sky Sports News understands that Tottenham have launched a bid for Emile Heskey, who could be replaced at Wigan by Fraizer Campbell. Dimitar Berbatov finally looks set to depart White Hart Lane on Monday and coach Juande Ramos has admitted he wants another striker in on top of Roman Pavlyuchenko - whose transfer from Spartak Moscow was finally sealed over the weekend. Now it appears that Wigan star Heskey has become a firm target for the North London club. The Latics' move for Middlesbrough's Mido over the weekend suggested Heskey could be on his way out of Steve Bruce's squad. But Mido will not be replacing him at The JJB Stadium, after manager Gareth Southgate confirmed he had told Wigan that the Egyptian was not available. Now, Sky Sports News has learned that United youngster Campbell is the man in line to replace Heskey - should he leave. Hull had been leading the chase to land England Under-21 star Campbell and they had lodged a £7million bid for him. But Wigan have the money to match Hull and it appears they have made a move to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.
