Chelsea and Manchester United can secure a place in the Champions League knockout phase on Wednesday. Here's a look at what they need to do.

United look certain to top Group A, while Chelsea are in a strong position in Group C.

United on the brink

Group A: CSKA Moscow v Benfica, Basel v Manchester United

Having taken four wins from four, Manchester United will secure qualification and top spot with a draw at Basel, who will be through themselves if they beat United and CSKA lose to Benfica.

United can also qualify if CSKA fail to win, though the Russian club will hope Jose Mourinho's side get a result in Switzerland so they can steal ahead in the race for second.

Group B: Paris Saint-Germain v Celtic, Anderlecht v Bayern Munich

Chelsea's scrap for top

Group C: Qarabag v Chelsea (5pm), Atletico Madrid v Roma

Chelsea are the only English side who did not top their group going into the fifth round of matches, but they can secure a last-16 spot with victory over Qarabag, while a draw will be good enough if Atletico Madrid do not beat Roma.

Atletico have reached two finals in the past four seasons, but they are staring down the barrel of a group-stage exit this time around. They must beat Roma, or draw if Chelsea lose, to maintain hopes of a top-two finish.

Heavyweight bout

Group D: Juventus v Barcelona, Sporting v Olympiakos

It's all eyes will be on the Juventus Stadium this Wednesday as the Italian champions play host to Barcelona, who can clinch top spot with a draw in Italy.
