Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa insists he is ready for the challenge of taming Lionel Messi

Portuguese defender ready for stiff task

Jose Bosingwa insists he is ready for the challenge of taming Lionel Messi in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona. Portuguese defender Bosingwa has been handed the task of marking Messi in the first leg at Camp Nou due to Ashley Cole's suspension. Bosingwa is being moved from his normal right-back spot to left-back to fill in for Cole, after he was trialled in the position during last weekend's 1-0 victory over West Ham. The former Porto man says facing Messi, who is widely regarded as the best player on the planet, holds no fear for him. "I'm prepared for the challenge. It is no problem marking Messi," Bosingwa told the Daily Star. "Messi is a big star worldwide, but it is possible to stop him with patience and calm. "You need to keep him under pressure. "I have experience playing with Porto and Portugal against big players, and now with Chelsea - I do not fear the Argentine."
