Ivorian attacker hopes for starting berth

Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou is hoping the Blues can qualify for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Carlo Ancelotti's side travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon, just a fortnight after thrashing them 4-0 at Stamford Bridge, knowing that a win will be enough for a place in the knockout stages. Kalou has been in good form in Europe in the absence of suspended striker Didier Drogba so far this season, but with Drogba's ban now served, Ancelotti may put the big forward straight into the starting line-up at the expense of his Ivorian team-mate. However, Kalou is willing to do whatever is asked of him, as he hopes for a victory in the build-up to Chelsea's crunch game against Manchester United on Sunday. "I am in good form, but our team is full of world-class strikers," he said. "We are all firing at the moment, so we wait for our team, when you are called for the team you need to respond. "We have a big game in the league on Sunday but let's win here and qualify for the next round - then we can concentrate on the Premier League. "Atletico has great players not playing well at the moment so we can take a serious step to qualification." Chelsea currently top Group D with a 100 per cent record having won three in three, while Atletico have had a miserable season so far and have only managed one point in Europe.
