Sources say Croatian ace currently talking to Spurs supremo

Sky Sports sources understand Luka Modric and his advisors are currently discussing his future with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Chelsea have been pursuing the Croatia playmaker throughout the summer but have so far seen two bids rejected by Spurs. Levy has said throughout the summer that Modric is not for sale and on Wednesday Spurs boss Harry Redknapp revealed the chairman had contacted Chelsea to reiterate that there was no chance of them signing the Croatian ace and urging them to put an end to their pursuit of the player. Redknapp has also previously stated Levy needed to speak to Modric, believing clear-the-air talks are required, with a new contract to follow. Modric has so far failed to feature for Spurs this term, with Redknapp saying the Croatia international was not in the right frame of mind to play in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United on Monday. If he plays for Redknapp's side against Hearts in their Europa League clash on Thursday night it means he will be cup-tied. But it seems speculation could rumble on right until the transfer window deadline at 11pm on Wednesday night.
