U2 to help fund new Hertha Berlin pitch before Liverpool game

Rock band U2 will pay most of the cost of a new pitch at Berlin's Olympic Stadium ahead of Hertha's 125th anniversary game against Liverpool on July 29.

U2 will pay more than £80k of the £116k total cost of a new pitch after the existing one was damaged during their recent concert at the stadium, according to German daily Bild.

The match, which celebrates the 125th anniversary of both clubs, will be Klopp's third return to Germany following his 2015 departure from Borussia Dortmund, with whom he won the Bundesliga title in 2011 and 2012.
