Croatia star upset by injury to Eduardo

Niko Kranjcar admits that the injury to his international team-mate Eduardo has angered the Croatian squad. The Arsenal striker suffered a badly broken leg in the Gunners' game with Birmingham on Saturday and is now definitely out of this summer's European Championship. An international strike record of 13 goals in 24 games suggests that he will be greatly missed in Austria and Switzerland, and Portsmouth winger Kranjcar expects the squad to be less competitive without him.

Saddened

"I didn't see it as I was driving to the ground (for Portsmouth's game with Sunderland) and a friend called me," said Kranjcar. "I must say, soon afterwards half the national team called me. "From the moment I heard it, shivers went through my body. We heard it was a bad break, and I will talk to him. "Of course we will be angry and sad if we do not have him for Euro 2008. Not to have him is a massive loss."
