Stoke midfielder did not intend to injure Gunner

Stoke City midfielder Rory Delap has rejected claims that he intended to injure Arsenal forward Theo Walcott. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was highly critical of the Potters following his side's 2-1 defeat last Saturday. The Frenchman intimated that some of Tony Pulis' charges deliberately sought to foul his players during the match. A late challenge from Delap saw Walcott fall awkwardly on his shoulder, however the teenager is expected to recover from the problem in time for the weekend. Delap has defended the tackle and also expressed his hope that his former Southampton team-mate makes a swift return from the injury. "To be honest, it was more of a tired tackle," Delap told The Sentinel. "I thought I was going to get the ball. He's that kind of player and was too quick for me. "I wish him all the best and will try to get to see him."
