Arsenal boss Wenger admits next three weeks will be decisive

Arsene Wenger believes Jack Wilshere will know in the next few weeks if he can feature for Arsenal this season - and also for England at Euro 2012. The 20-year-old has not played a single game for the Gunners this term because of an ankle injury sustained in pre-season which required surgery. Wenger will not take any chances over the long-term health of a key man for club and country and will monitor Wilshere carefully in the coming weeks. The Frenchman said: "We try to keep the hope alive for him and without taking too many risks. "That means we adapt day to day, to manage him, to improve his physical state and get him fit as quickly as we can without taking too big a risk, which means when he has pain we stop him."

Impossible

On the prospect of Wilshere being involved for England in the summer, Wenger admitted that he can only be considered if he has made a successful club comeback before the end of the campaign. He added: "To go to a big competition without having played at all is impossible. "In the next four or five weeks we will know more and the next three weeks will be decisive. "You would think a player who wants to play in June will have to be competitive at the end of April. "The next three weeks will decide [if he can go to the Euros]."
