Everton have made a £13.5m bid for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse, according to Sky sources.
The 25-year-old, who was voted the Russian Premier League's player of 2015, has been in great form this season for Lokomotiv, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in 21 matches.
Last week, manager Roberto Martinez admitted Everton would "keep their options open" after allowing Steven Naismith to join Norwich City in a deal worth £8.5m.
Martinez has only two recognised senior forwards at his disposal - Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone - and the potential addition of Niasse would provide him with extra firepower for the final four months of the season.
If Niasse does complete a move to Goodison Park, he will become Martinez's second signing of the January transfer window following the addition of young Swiss forward Shani Tarashaj from Grasshoppers.
Tarashaj will link officially link up with Everton in the summer after being sent back to Grasshoppers on loan for the remainder of the season.
