Striker excited by home debut

Everton striker Yakubu is looking for an instant impact in front of the Goodison Park faithful on Saturday. Yakubu, who joined The Toffees from Middlesbrough for £11.25million in August, will make his home bow against Manchester United. The Nigerian was on the score sheet on his debut at Bolton last time out and wants to make a similar impression at home. "It will be a good feeling to run out at Goodison," Yakubu told EvertonTV. "In the game at Bolton the way the fans treated me was unbelievable and I hope I will get the same reception at home. "You want to impress them and I am looking forward to the game. "It's a big game for us and one we don't want to lose. I hope we get a result." Yakubu has been a regular goalscorer against United in recent seasons having netted for both Boro and Portsmouth in the past. The 24-year-old missed Nigeria's game against Lesotho at the weekend but will be fully fit to face Sir Alex Ferguson's side. "I am fine," he added. "I just didn't want to take any risks. "I spoke to the (Nigeria) manager and said I had a little knock and that it would be best to rest it and he said 'fine'."
