Nigeria axe Yak and Vic

Everton duo Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Victor Anichebe have been left out of Nigeria's squad to face Australia and Switzerland. Both players are on the reserve list as coach Berti Vogts explores other striking options, including Portsmouth's John Utaka and Obafemi Martins of Newcastle. There is also no place for Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha. The England Under 21 captain was a target for Nigeria, the country of his birth - but it appears he is now committed fully to The Three Lions. Nigeria face Australia at Fulham's Craven Cottage on 17th November before travelling to Zurich three days later to meet Switzerland.
