Aussies agree to Everton request

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill will play no part in Australia's friendly against Nigeria this weekend. Cahill has only just returned to action following a lengthy injury lay-off and Everton requested that he sit out the game to recover from several 'bumps and bruises'. He is expected to attend the match at Craven Cottage but as he will not be involved it means he will have had a fortnight's rest by the time Everton face Sunderland next Saturday. David Moyes is determined to nurse Cahill back to full fitness to ensure he does not suffer any further setbacks after a frustrating year. Cahill picked up a metatarsal injury in Everton's Premier League clash with Sheffield United in March, but he did then play for his country in the Asian Cup over the summer. He was sidelined again in pre-season and did not return to the Everton side until the Uefa Cup game against Larissa three weeks ago. Cahill's Everton team-mates Joseph Yobo and Victor Anichebe have withdrawn from the Nigeria squad due to injury, while Yakubu Aiyegbeni is doubtful.
