Contract situation not affecting players, says full-back

Leighton Baines insists the uncertainty over David Moyes' future has not affected the Everton squad, but hopes the manager will sign a new contract before the weekend. Moyes has spent several months discussing a new deal at Goodison Park, but has yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension. The situation has led to suggestions that Everton's form has suffered as a result of the delay in the Scot signing fresh terms. However, Baines believes the players are not troubled by Moyes' situation, although he is keen to see a resolution before Saturday's trip to Arsenal.

Difficult to pinpoint

"We're still doing the same things daily on the training ground as last year and it's pretty much the same bunch of players," Baines told Sky Sports News. "There have been a couple of ins and outs, but apart from that there's not been much change, so it is difficult to pinpoint any particular reason. "I don't think the manager's contract has any bearing on it because it's not anywhere near anyone's mind when you step on the pitch. "It's the manager's business to do it when he's ready. If it can be before the weekend as it's been talked about, then great. "But, whether it is done or not, I don't think it will have any effect on how we perform when we go out there to do our job."
