Nicolas Anelka has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new four-year contract at Bolton.

Striker signs new deal to 2011

Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by signing a new four-year contract at the club. The France international has been linked with a move away from The Reebok Stadium for much of the summer but is now tied to The Trotters until 2011. Anelka, who joined Bolton from Fenerbahce for £8million last summer, has started the season by scoring three goals in the first four Premier League games. Bolton boss Sammy Lee could not contain his delight at the news that Anelka will be staying after the 28-year-old put pen-to-paper on his new deal.

Boost

"It is a fantastic boost for the club and our supporters that Nicolas has agreed to stay with us," Lee told the club's official website. "We have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get him to commit his long-term future to us. "Nicolas is one of the world's best strikers and I am immensely proud and happy that he has shown such commitment to the club. "It's also a boost for the dressing room because a team never wants to lose anybody of Nicolas' stature and presence. "This shows our ambition to be amongst the top clubs, not just in this country but across the world of football. "Nicolas is one of the most sought-after strikers in the world and I am delighted that he will continue to wear the Bolton Wanderers shirt."
Committed
Anelka has previously stated his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League but says he has never been happier with life at Bolton. "I seem to have been linked with every club in the country of late, but my heart is with Bolton," he added. "I am very happy with my form, the club and the manager so signing a new contract was not a difficult decision. "Hopefully we will prosper together because I would not have remained at Bolton if I'd thought we could not win trophies."

Hunt deal

Meanwhile, Bolton have also announced that right-back Nicky Hunt has agreed a new contract through 2011. Hunt came through the youth ranks at The Reebok Stadium and has made over 100 Premier League appearances for Bolton.
