Defender says side has picked up since Megson's arrival

Bolton defender Andy O'Brien has praised the role manager Gary Megson is playing in the club's revival. The former West Brom manager received an unmotivated reception when he took charge at the Reebok Stadium in October but has since won over the fans with wins over local rivals Wigan and Manchester United. His side travel to Manchester City on Saturday hoping to extend their run of nine points in six league games. O'Brien believes Megson's appointment has proved all the difference. "Since his arrival, results have improved, and that's what he was brought here for," the 28-year-old said.

Performance

"It's all well and good putting in good performances but it's all about results. We've slowly turned some of those draws into wins in recent weeks and it shows what a big different getting those three points makes. "He's a good man-manager, he's got time for everybody and he's good at summing up characters. "He can have a laugh with me, who's one of the quieter members of the squad, or with (El Hadji) Diouf, who's the life and soul of the party. "The players have applied themselves very well, and from day one, we've certainly picked up." Meanwhile young goalkeeper Adam Bogdan caught the attention of Sven Goran Eriksson after a reserve game against Manchester City.
Impressed
According to a report in Hungary, the former English national coach was happy to see the player's performance. The 21-year-old joined the Wanderers' from Hungarian second division side Vecses as fifth choice goalkeeper. Megson has now named the youngster as his third in line so should Jussi Jaskelainen or Ali Al Habsi not be available, Bogdan may make the bench. Bogdan said: "Sometimes goalkeeper trainings are so tough that we can hardly step after the practice. "I was working hard in Hungary too but here I became even stronger. I'm very happy if I hear it from others that my career is on the right way."
