Peter Ridsdale does not want Cardiff to become a stepping stone club in the wake of Aaron Ramsey's imminent departure to Arsenal.
The Gunners appear to have won the race to land Ramsey after the 17-year-old turned down the opportunity to join Manchester United and Everton.
And the potential transfer has sparked speculation that the likes of Ipswich target Roger Johnson, Glenn Loovens and Kevin McNaughton could also be moving away from Cardiff.
However, club chairman Ridsdale is optimistic Cardiff will be able to keep their star players at Ninian Park as the Bluebirds plot a route out of the Championship.
Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo: "I do not want to lose any players. We are looking to build on what we have now.
"I have met with Roger's agent and Kevin's too and I will be meeting with Glenn's agent this week.
"We believe we have some lucrative packages to offer them and are very optimistic they will commit their futures to Cardiff City."
