Bolton 'plan to face' Blackburn

Bolton Wanderers plan to go ahead with Saturday's derby against Blackburn Rovers, but will make a final decision in the next 24 hours.

Firm decision regarding weekend's derby expected by Wednesday

Bolton Wanderers plan to go ahead with Saturday's derby against Blackburn Rovers, but will make a final decision in the next 24 hours. The Trotters' scheduled game against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening was postponed after midfielder Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest during Saturday's FA Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur. The quarter-final encounter at White Hart Lane was abandoned in the first half after Muamba collapsed on the pitch before being taken to the London Chest Hospital. The situation has led Bolton to consider whether to request a postponement of the weekend's fixture against Blackburn at the Reebok Stadium. Blackburn boss Steve Kean confirmed on Monday that Rovers would be happy to respect Bolton's wishes if they wanted to delay the match. However, Bolton are currently intending to play their local rivals and will confirm their decision by Wednesday at the latest. Muamba had a comfortable last night in intensive care and the medical team continue to monitor his progress after he showed signs of improvement on Monday. He is able to breathe independently and has also been able to recognise family members and respond to questions appropriately.
