Reading have confirmed they are releasing Simon Cox, Anton Ferdinand and Hal Robson-Kanu when their contracts expire next month.

Forward Robson-Kanu, 26, is a product of the Reading academy and will leave after 11 years of service to the Royals, scoring 30 goals in over 200 appearances.

He has previously been of interest to Premier League clubs and scored twice in his most recent appearance against Fulham.

Cox is another academy graduate at the Madejski Stadium but the 29-year-old spent time at Swindon, West Brom and Nottingham Forest before returning to Reading in 2014 to become a regular with over 50 appearances in the past two seasons.

Ferdinand, 31, also signed two seasons ago from Queens Park Rangers but has made just 26 appearances.

The Royals have also confirmed that youngsters Pierce Sweeney, Noor Husin, Hammad Lawal, Nana Owusu, Lewis Collins, Sammi Fridjonsson, Conor Shaughnessy and Bogdan Vastsuk will all leave.

The Championship club have offered new deals to Rob Dickie, Dominic Hyam, Shane Griffin, Sean Long, Aaron Kuhl, Liam Kelly, Lewis Ward, George Legg and Andrija Novakovich.
